HappyHour

HappyHour now in Hangover Mode

As much as we try and avoid being labeled another cliché web 2.0 application; we seem to be in infinite “beta”. We are however officially updating our perpetual beta status from “pregame mode” to “hangover mode”. Now that we’ve fully recovered from the binge that was SXSWi 2009, it’s back to work!

For those that remember, our “pregame mode” version of HappyHour was a slightly less-than-clever way to say we were ready to talk about it but it wasn’t done yet—the code was still catching up to the big idea. We successfully launched in pregame mode for SXSWi with limited functionality and had a tremendously positive reaction. We had over a thousand active users on HappyHour daily during the conference; we surly did our part to connect the people with the parties!

So, now that we’ve upgraded our status, what next? Well, the pregame version was about 25% of the “the big idea” – it accounted for a lot of the core functionality (which helped us work out the kinks) but is only a fraction of what we plan to publicly launch with. We’ll share more in the coming months! Don’t worry though, we are just building the big idea, not adding any bloat – we’ll be keeping it lean, mean and clean!

The official launch of HappyHour is currently scheduled for this winter!

Drink with me at SXSW! (Badges)

Can you believe that SXSW is just a few days away? Well, while we all get our last minute clothes shopping, haircuts and panel picking out of the way … lets not forget the import part, the parties!

Forget coming to see you speak or meet up in between panels, lets grab a drink at SXSW; won’t you come drink with me? We will be deploying full-twitter integration with HappyHour! starting on Thursday, March 12th; making it easier than ever to find your friends and grab a drink.

In the mean-time we had some spare time and put together a few “come drink with me at SXSW” badges. It is a little into the last hour for badges, we know – but we do things because there fun (or funny), not really for the promotion aspect of it all. So, check out our badges — tell us they’re cool, tell us they’re dumb, use them or don’t, we don’t really care either way, so enjoy!

Special Early Weekend Sneak Peak

HappyHour! is still in pre-game mode and will be launching its limited edition SXSW Version next week. We are pretty stoked about it and thought we’d share some sneak peaks at what is to come.

There are several views, we’ll show you three of the most important ones as if you were logged in with your Twitter credentials.

The Main Page

A listing of all parties at SXSW for a particular day. You’ll be able to easily view all official and unofficial parties at SXSW for any day during the conference. The ability to add an event from the application on-the-go is being added in as we speak.

The Individual Event Page

Get the important information you need about any party at anytime. You’ll be able to see what people are saying about the event on Twitter as well as a filter for what your friends (followers) are saying about the event. And of course, you’ll be able to add a comment about the event right from HappyHour!

The Friends Page

A listing all of your friends (followers) from Twitter. You’ll be able to see what parties everyone you follow is currently at.

We’ll be working hard through the weekend to launch next week, SXSWi is just a few days away; wow!

Everyone Loves a HappyHour

Welcome to HappyHour! HappyHour.org is a small web-based social event application created specifically for the iPhone. It’s not really a social network and not really an event site; and it’s most definitely not “web 2.0”. Simply, it’s a place to find the “best” of events based on what your friends and others are saying. And, if you and your friends are not feeling any of the events around, you can create your own. It’s kind of like a hook-up between Twitter and Upcoming. HappyHour.org is the best place to the find the best events.

Currently HappyHour.org is in pregame mode; which is a slightly less than clever way to say we’re ready to talk about it but it’s not done yet; the code has not yet caught up to the big idea. However, we are launching a short preview of HappyHour specifically for the SXSW Interactive conference in Austin, Texas this year. HappyHour will be live and running with limited but very specific functionality for SXSWi.

Avoid the long lines and dried-up open bars — find your friends, the best parties, or even start a new one. HappyHour.org has all of the SXSW party information you’ll need. All of the official and unofficial parties of SXSW Interactive will be available for our March preview launch.

Our preview launch for SXSWi will be on Monday, March 9th; the week the conference starts.

HappyHour.org is brought you by the creative team at nclud and the geniuses at 200ok.
